The Student Affairs Case Management Services team is an excellent resource for faculty and staff who seek consultation about a student in distress, or have general questions about a concerning student situation.

  • Andrew Hua

    Andrew Hua

    Title: Director

    Before starting at UC San Diego, Andrew has served as a Higher Education professional at the University of California, Berkeley and Washington State University. He received his Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration degree from Michigan State University (Go Green! Go Spartans!) and he received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree from the University of California, Riverside (Go Highlanders!). Currently, Andrew is also in the process of acquiring his doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of California San Diego and California State University, San Marcos. Personally, he’d like to share that he is a huge Disney fanatic and love photography. So you could say that his hobbies are going to Disneyland and taking pictures. However, he has other hobbies as well. He enjoys playing volleyball, board/video games, going on foodie adventures, and hiking. Andrew’s various experiences in Crisis Management, Behavioral Threat Assessment, Non-Clinical Case Management, Residential Life, Greek Life, Student Conduct, Conference Services, and Student Government, along with his desire to learn and passion for developing students, holistically, as leaders, citizens, and scholars in a safe and welcoming community is the foundation of his student affairs experience.

    Prior to UCSD, Tee collaborated with staff, students, faculty, and campus administrators to design and implement community service-learning initiatives and retention strategies at the University of San Diego. In May 2024, Tee received her M.A. In Higher Education Leadership and a Restorative Justice Certificate. She also received her B.A. at San Diego State University and was a transfer student from San Diego Mesa College. Now, she is pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the joint (JDP) program at University of California San Diego and California State University San Marcos. Tee is passionate about serving students and providing holistic support services as they navigate their academic trajectory. 
    Outside of work, Tee enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, shooting archery, and trying new restaurants! 
  • Bianca Barreto

    Bianca Barreto

    Bianca started in Student Affairs Case Management Services as a graduate assistant in 2021, then began her role as the Inaugural Students with Dependents Coordinator in 2022, before becoming a Case Manager in 2024. Bianca is a proud alumna of UC San Diego and graduated with her B.A. in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology. After working post-graduation with UC San Diego Health in the Smoking Cessation field, she obtained her Master of Social Work degree from CSU San Marcos. Bianca is passionate about serving students through advocacy and holistic support services.

    Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, going to the beach, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with her friends, partner, and family.

    Monique earned her master's degree in educational leadership in 2023 from San Diego State University. She is passionate about education, advocating for radical change within the educational sector. Monique has had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students, but her primary focus at the moment is college students attending UCs. She is interested in discovering ways to holistically support students as they navigate their college experiences.

    Outside of work, Monique enjoys photography, painting, and engaging in any activity that requires creativity.

  • Kevin Baldueza

    Kevin Baldueza started as a graduate assistant in 2020, then stepped into his full-time role as a Student Affairs Case Manager in June of 2022. Kevin received his Bachelors of Social work from California State University San Bernardino in 2020, and went directly into his Master’s program at California State University San Marcos, where he received his Masters of Social Work degree in May of 2022. Kevin has a passion working with individuals who come from underrepresented populations. In his free time, Kevin enjoys playing guitar, fishing, powerlifting, and spending time with friends and family.

    Jade earned her Master of Social Work degree in San Diego. She is passionate about supporting students and working in higher education with a background of 5 years supporting college students. She became passionate about the higher education setting while working in academic advising and providing clinical support to local colleges. Outside of work, Jade enjoys camping, music, and art!

    Jena Corea earned her master's degree in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Fresno State and has worked as a Higher Education Case Manager over the last few years. She started as a graduate assistant with Student Affairs Case Management Services (SACM) here at UCSD in 2022. After stepping away to work in Case Management at UC Davis she has returned to UCSD's SACM team as a full-time Case Manager. She is looking forward to working with students to help them navigate their time at UCSD. Outside of work, Jena enjoys traveling, listening to music, reading and spending time with her friends and family.

    Natalie Hilts earned her Master of Social Work degree from San Diego State University in 2022. She continued working there providing clinical case management and therapy until joining UCSD’s SACM team as a Case Manager in 2024. Natalie is passionate about supporting and empowering students as they navigate the systems they are a part of. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, puzzles, and spending time with her friends and family.

    Jordan earned her master’s degree in Social Work from CSUSM in 2023 and is passionate about creating inclusive and supportive campus environments. With a background in clinical services and advocacy, she has gained valuable experience in counseling, survivor advocacy, and case management with diverse populations. Jordan is dedicated to enhancing student well-being and success, and she strives to promote and strengthen innovative programs that meet the unique needs of the student body. When she’s not working, you can find her enjoying a good book, diving into interesting podcasts, or exploring the great outdoors through backpacking and rock climbing.

    Cara is a proud UCSD alumna with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She also holds a master’s degree in educational counseling and a PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) credential from Point Loma Nazarene University. With experience in both K-12 and higher education settings, she has dedicated her career to providing academic advising and counseling to students from diverse backgrounds. Cara is passionate about empowering students to navigate their unique educational and personal journeys, always with a focus on supporting their well-being and growth. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family in beautiful San Diego and staying active through pilates and yoga.

  • Alicia Martinez

    Alicia earned her Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, specializing in Higher Education and Student Affairs, from Cal Poly, SLO in 2018. After graduation in 2018, Alicia moved to Tennessee to begin her full-time career in student affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as a Housing Hall Director, and in 2022, Alicia moved to Nashville to work as an Area Coordinator for Housing at Vanderbilt University. In 2024, Alicia joined the SACM team at UCSD as a Case Manager. Alicia is passionate about a compassion-forward, student centered approach to supporting students success both as students, and individuals, as they discover their identities and values. Alicia is excited to continue supporting student in their journeys at UCSD. Alicia is thrilled to move back to her hometown of San Diego to be closer to family. 

    Outside of work, Alicia enjoys reading, playing video games, hiking, walks on the beach and walking her dog.

  • Laurie Magulac

    Laurie is an alumna of UC San Diego and a mother of four. She brings 22 years of experience working with students, families, family caregivers, and agencies that support them. She is a parenting educator and author, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work. Laurie looks forward to continuing the good work of the Students with Dependents program and to expanding opportunities for students with dependents in our UC San Diego community. And, as a fun fact, when she's not working, she's at the beach, reading or playing with her menagerie of family pets.
  • Chrystian Smith

    Chrystian Smith

    Title: Creating Culture of Care Manager

    Chrystian is the inaugural UC San Diego Creating Culture of Care Manager. They coordinate the Triton2Triton program, develop and implement campus-wide wellness initiatives, and manage the Creating Culture of Care trainings. Chrystian received her bachelor's degrees in Political Science and History from San Diego State University and has completed her MA in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University. She is passionate about the intersections and impacts of wellness, mental health, and basic needs access on educational outcomes for marginalized students. They are a San Diego local and love this city so if you need recommendations, let them know! An avid reader, walker, amateur chef, and cat-mom.
