Posting Guidelines

The SACL Staff Mailing List is used for professional purposes only. Sales and/or solicitation posts will not be approved for distribution.

  • Relevance: All posts must be relevant to Student Affairs and Campus Life staff and our student-centered colleagues at UC San Diego.
  • Respect: Please maintain an inclusive, respectful and courteous tone in all communications, avoiding offensive, inflammatory, or discriminatory language.
  • Clarity: We encourage clear and concise messages with descriptive subject lines to help recipients understand the content of the email.
  • Confidentiality: Do not share confidential or sensitive information through the Mailing List.
  • Attachments: Avoid sending large attachments. Instead, provide links to documents or resources when possible.
  • Frequency: Be mindful of the frequency of your posts. Avoid spamming the Mailing List with multiple messages in a short period.

General Etiquette

  • Signature: Include a signature with your name, position, and contact information at the end of your emails.
  • Formatting: Use standard fonts and avoid excessive use of formatting (bold, italics, colors) to ensure readability.
  • Don't Use 'UCSD': Instead, you should always spell out 'UC San Diego'. For additional rules and formatting tips, be sure to review our Web Editorial Style Guide – an excellent resource to ensure a consistent, professional tone when composing messages for the Mailing List.
  • Shift Happens: Before you send, be sure to edit for typos, misspelled words and names.

How to Post

Anyone who is subscribed to the SACL Staff Mailing List may compose and submit messages for distribution to the list.

To do so:

  1. Compose and send your email – exactly how you would like for it to appear to the recipient – to SASTAFF-L@ucsd.edu using the email client of your choice.
